Director Business Development

The Director, Business Development is responsible for the growth of account sales for his/her territory or target vertical. This individual will be responsible for achieving sales quotas and goals that will be outlined by management. He/she will travel to/within assigned territories to secure new business and deep sell to the existing customer base. The ideal candidate must have the ability to coordinate and manage organizational efforts and information by creating professional and effective businessproposals. The Business Development Managers reporting structure will vary based on location.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
oResponsible for selling value based logistics solutions
oResponsible for identifying new business opportunities through contact with prospective clients in the assigned market or vertical
oResponsible for cross selling new services to existing clients
oResponsible for identifying market trends and competitive rate actions and communicating those trends to the management team
oExercises proactive solution development by creating and maintaining a client lifecycle program for his/her top clients
oResponsible for assisting and facilitating in the preparation of RFQ's and bids
oResponsible for identifying the competitive service strengths and weaknesses of the company and making recommendations for continuous improvement initiatives
oResponsible for providing weekly and monthly performance metrics to the sales administrator
oResponsible for understanding pricing and cost components associated with proposed solutions
oResponsible for other duties including: sales presentations, developing deliverables, coordinating implementation, creating and adding to existing marketing materials where appropriate
oTravels to and attends trade shows when instructed by the management team
oEnters new customer data and other sales data for clients into Unitrans proprietary CRM and maintains this information per company policy
oPerforms other duties as assigned by management
oBachelor Degree in Business or related field
o10+ years of applicable industry experience in Sales / Business Development
oValue based solution selling incorporating Ocean / Air freight / Customs Brokerage/ Warehousing & Distribution services highly preferred
oKnowledge of transportation and logistics industry required
oMust be able to pass TSA mandated Security Threat Assessment

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
